AI writing privacy begins before you paste a paragraph. A tool may need to know that a scene contains an apology; it does not necessarily need the real message that inspired it. Separate the craft question from the material you would regret sharing. Then decide whether a smaller, wholly invented example can answer that question. You can complete this exercise on paper and continue writing without using AI at all.
Our example is fictional: Jules is writing about two adult neighbors who disagree after one repairs a borrowed stool without asking. The task is to make an apology feel hesitant rather than defensive. No real correspondence is needed. Fyrlo publishes this guide. Our limited recommendation later is based on matching an invented-fiction task to documented planning and drafting functions, not a security audit, a comparison test or a claim that any app is the safest.
Start AI writing privacy with one specific task
Write down what you want to improve in a single sentence. “Help with my novel” leaves the scope open; “suggest two ways an adult character can hesitate before apologizing” identifies a small problem. Next, list the minimum facts a reader would need to understand it: the relationship, the immediate disagreement, the viewpoint and the desired change in tone. A whole manuscript, a biography and the original private exchange do not automatically belong on that list. More context can be useful, but useful is not the same as necessary for every request.
Try answering the question yourself before choosing a tool. Draft one version in which Jules’s character talks too much and another in which the character pauses and asks permission to explain. Compare what each response allows the neighbor to do. This gives you a concrete standard for judging suggestions later. If the problem is really a missing consequence in the plot, repair the outline first. A bounded craft exercise is easier to evaluate than a large upload accompanied by a vague request to make everything better.
Keep source material outside the working brief
Make a separate inventory of the material behind your draft, without putting that inventory into a prompt. It might include your own unfinished fiction, letters from another person, workplace information or notes about a real event. These categories are not interchangeable. Having written a document does not settle every question about the people described in it or agreements attached to it. If a project involves confidential professional material, stop and use the process authorized for that work. A general writing guide cannot approve a disclosure or replace qualified advice.
The Spanish data-protection authority AEPD advises avoiding personal or sensitive information and respecting other people’s privacy when using AI. For this writing exercise, turn that caution into a practical boundary: leave the original letter, identifying photograph and private chronology out of the task entirely. The image of a closed document box is a metaphor for selection, not a promise about digital security. Keep your actual originals in the storage arrangement appropriate to them; do not upload them merely so a tool can decide which parts should be removed.

Invent an example instead of changing only names
Replacing a name does not necessarily remove the clues that identify a person. A distinctive job, a particular date and an unusual incident can still point to someone. Do not treat a renamed private conversation as automatically anonymous. Instead, rebuild the example from the craft problem outward. Jules needs an uneven apology between neighbors, not the precise circumstances of a real argument. Invent the borrowed stool, the repair and the reasons each adult feels wronged. None of those details needs to map back to a particular person.
Keep the emotional function while changing the source. One character wants to be seen as helpful; the other wants to make decisions about their own belongings. That is enough to explore defensive dialogue. Write a short fictional exchange yourself and inspect it as a new piece of writing. If it still contains a recognizable private detail, remove or reinvent that detail before proceeding. This method reduces what the request contains; it is not a technical anonymization procedure or a guarantee against identification in every situation. When invention cannot separate the task from sensitive material, do the exercise without uploading it.
Read the current terms before sending the brief
Once you have a minimal invented brief, check the actual service you intend to use. Look for its current privacy policy and terms, the kinds of inputs processed, relevant service providers, retention language and deletion options. Record the date you checked and the particular questions you still cannot answer. Do not fill gaps with assumptions drawn from another product, a promotional slogan or a setting you remember from an older version. If an unanswered question would change your decision, leave the material out while you seek clarification through the official support route.
Separate three questions: whether information is transmitted to provide a feature, whether it is stored, and whether it is used for model training. An answer about one does not by itself answer the others. A promise concerning a provider’s own models also needs to be read in its actual scope. Avoid converting a limited statement into “nothing ever leaves my device.” For Jules, the decision can remain simple: use only invented, nonsensitive scene notes that Jules is willing to submit under the current terms, or continue the same revision on paper. Neither choice requires uploading the original inspiration.

Use privacy labels as a starting point, not a verdict
Apple explains that App Store privacy information is supplied by developers and distinguishes collection, data linked to a person, and tracking. Read those categories rather than treating a short label as a complete account of a manuscript’s journey. In particular, tracking has a defined advertising and data-sharing meaning; it is not a synonym for every kind of processing needed to produce text. The absence of a tracking statement is therefore not sufficient evidence that a writing request stays on the device or that no service provider receives it.
Follow the developer’s policy link and compare the description with the feature you plan to use. A page about an app’s general collection practices may not resolve a detailed question about a particular request. Do not describe a label as an independent security certification, and do not rank tools by a single reassuring phrase. For a writer, a useful decision record is modest: what task you intend to submit, which information you have excluded, which documents you checked, and what uncertainty remains. If that uncertainty matters more than the possible drafting benefit, keep working without the service.

Where Fyrlo fits an invented-fiction workflow
For the narrow task of planning and drafting invented, nonsensitive fiction, we recommend Fyrlo as an option to consider after that review. This is the publisher’s recommendation, not a finding that it is the most private app. Fyrlo’s product privacy overview describes cloud-stored user projects and AI requests that send the context needed for generation. It points to Rocket Digital’s official policy as the controlling document. Read that policy through the overview and ask about anything unclear; do not assume that avoiding sign-in means every part of a project remains on your device.
If the terms fit your needs, enter Jules’s invented premise, organize the characters and plot context, and ask for a bounded scene draft. Compare one variable, such as whether the apology starts with an explanation or a question, while keeping the disagreement fixed. Keep your chosen facts in your own reference notes and review each accepted passage before continuing chapter by chapter. The editable chapter-plan screen belongs to the Book format, not every format. Fyrlo helps plan and draft; it does not guarantee quality, originality, factual accuracy, copyright status, publication readiness or sales. Its free download includes some usage, not unlimited access to every feature.
Finish with a deliberate keep, remove or do-not-send decision
At the end of the session, decide which working copies you need and use the service’s documented controls for anything you want to remove. Do not confuse removing a local file, deleting a project, deleting an account and canceling a subscription. They address different things. Nor should a disappearance from a screen be described as independently verified erasure from every system. Read the applicable retention and deletion language and seek clarification if the distinction matters to your work. Keep necessary records without copying the sensitive material into additional places.
Return to the original craft question. Jules can now choose a line of dialogue because of what it does in the scene, not because a tool received more intimate context. Keep the accepted fictional version, revise its consequences and set the next limited task. If you decided not to send anything, the two paper drafts still provide a useful comparison. The successful outcome is a writing decision you can explain and a boundary you intentionally maintained. This guide offers a general editorial method, not individualized legal or security advice; sensitive professional projects need their own authorized requirements.
